
John “Andy” Hunter Jr, entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, February 23, 2023 as a result of an automobile accident. He will truly be missed beyond measure.
Andy is survived by his daughter, Kellie (Delery) Matherne; stepdaughter’s, Shasta Morales (Buddy Fisher), Kendra (Cody) Barnett; and an “adopted” daughter Nechelle (Mike) Polk. Nephews, David (Jill) Hunter & Michael Hunter, special friend Nora Johnson, numerous cousins and his friends at Sammy’s Grill (Highland Rd), Mary Lee Donut’s (Florida Blvd) and Friends of the Animals Baton Rouge.
Proceeded in death by his parents Dr. John & Doris Hunter, his wife Sharon Wells Hunter, his in-laws Calvin & LaDonice Wells, his brother & sister-in-law, Dr. David & Johanne Hunter, great-grandparents John & Minnie Lea Hunter, Mannie D. & Clara Paine and many other angels he has been blessed to call family and friends.
Andy was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was an alum of Baton Rouge High School as well as a lifelong LSU tiger fan. Andy began working for Polk Chevrolet in November 1969 and continued his career there before retiring from Gerry Lane Chevrolet in June 2019, just five months shy of fifty years.
Andy’s family would like to thank his extended family and friends for the many memories, prayers, and heartfelt love.
His life will be celebrated at Journey Church, Greenwell Springs, LA on March 23 with visitation beginning at 11am. Service immediately following, officiated by Pastor Jay Coleman.
