
Philip Manuel, age 59, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Ochsner Medical Center, Jefferson, LA. A native of Kinder and lived in the Maringouin area for the past 27 years. He was the son of Thomas James Manuel and Dorothy Chapman.
He was a Bridge Tender for Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years, a crossing guard for the Pointe Coupee Sheriffs office for the past year, a taxidermist and taught hunter safety for the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Philip also trained bird dogs and founded in the Louisiana Wounded Warriors Woodcock Hunt for many years with his wife Claudia. Philip was also active in Lanier Baptist Church as well a the Carpenters For Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Claudia Hoffman Manuel; seven children, Kyle Manuel and fiancée Jennifer, Jeremy Guerin and wife Dawn, Ian Stelly, Wendy Guerin, Jennifer Roy and Ronnie, Ashley Billodeau and Anthony and Ali Cashio. Fourteen Grandchildren, Colin, Eli, Ryker, Meghan and Hunter, Katelynn and Tanner, Abby, Hyde, Beaux and Kellee, Emily, Jacob, Dylan, Alysa, Colton and Grayson; eight great-grandchildren, Avery, Hallie Kate, Harper, Ryleigh, Kody, Katherine, Adelynne and Jameson; brother, Larry and wife Rita Manuel; two sisters, Phyllis and Roger Buxton and Gayla Manuel; sister-in-law, Stacie Manuel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Beaux Roy, Jacob Robison, Reese Manuel, Robert Manuel, Jacob Manuel and Colby Manuel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny Manuel; nephew, B. J. Manuel.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 9:00am until 12:00pm at Lanier Baptist Church, 4851 Lanier Drive, Baton Rouge, LA.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00pm on March 9, 2023, at Lanier Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Ferguson as officiant.
Church Funeral Services of Baton Rouge is in charge of the arrangements.
No more jokes, no more pc texts!!! He will be missed. He was always giving, his time, his talents and a buck if you needed. He helped me put on many field trials. I am sorry that Fig is gone. He will be remembered fondly among his birddog and hunting friends. Thank you my friend!!!
So sadden to hear flood this loss but from the years I was blessed to be with him was ALWAYS a joy and laughter! No one else called me Breezy but him! It was one of my favorites to be around!
