Susan Kilroy Chapman took her last breath on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at the age of 68. She
was surrounded by family and friends. Susan was the fifth child born to Jack and Angela Kilroy
on July 8, 1954 in Baton Rouge, LA.
After graduating from Istrouma High School, she obtained a BS at Southeastern Louisiana. She
worked at South Central Bell and AT&T. Susan pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher
at Winbourne Elementary and furthered her career as a Reading Recovery Teacher and Coach.
She retired after 20 years of teaching from Merrydale Elementary School on January 20, 2014.
Susan loved reading, traveling, hosting family gatherings, and visiting her grandchildren after
retirement. She battled Carcinoid cancer for 16 years and did not let a moment of new
experiences with family go to waste. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents John “Jack” and Angela Kilroy, her brother Mike
Kilroy, and John Daddy. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gerald “Jerry” Chapman;
their five children and spouses: Sarah Curtis (John), Daniel Chapman (Lacy), Michael Chapman
(Krystle), Thomas Chapman, and Anna Cali (Philip); nine grandchildren: Angela Schexnider,
Asher Schexnider, Abel Fender, Amos Curtis, Ella Claire Chapman, Molly Chapman, Aiden
Chapman, Andrew Joseph Chapman, and Wyatt Chapman; and brothers: John Collins Kilroy,
James Thomas Kilroy, and Patrick Kyle Kilroy (Wanda).
