Hans Christopher Bruetting was born on August 15, 1968, in Baton Rouge, LA. Hans was born with an intellectual disability, but he never let it stop him from trying or doing anything that he wanted to do. He loved Sandra his wife, his family, his truck, his candy, and his long list of many favorite restaurants. He never stopped telling friends and family how much he cared for them. He was fiercely determined and committed in caring for his wife during her illness. He suffered a short, but painful battle with cancer. His faith in God, support of his family and his never-ending positive attitude allowed him to believe that he was going to pull through to the very end. He passed away peacefully on October 19, 2022, with his two sister’s and brother-in-law, Jeff by his side. Hans is survived by his wife Sandra: his son Devan and stepchildren Herman A Harrison, Kevin D Harrison, and Shanika A Harrison; his parents Gail and Werner Bruetting; his sisters Erika Jaksic and Lisa Middleton and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren who cared about him deeply. Special thank you to his Aunt Judy Bruetting, caregiver Dana and the many friends and family that visited him and helped to make his journey easier. Hans is now in heaven with Jesus, and we take comfort in knowing he is pain free.
I was in Mrs. August’s third grade class with Hans at Villa del Rey Elementary. After helping out with Special Olympics here in Texas, Hans was on my heart. How shocked I was to find that he had passed. He was the sweetest kid. He had such a special friendship with Bo Conrad…and also Babette Garber. Whenever we would get out for recess, Hans would run as fast as he possibly could. What a great comfort it is to know that he lived his life to the fullest, was surrounded by loving family, and died in Christ.
So sorry that this poor guy had to go through so much pain during his final days. I know he’s in a better place – free from pain and being trapped in a hospital bed. Whenever we finished a phone call, he always told me that he loved me and I know that he fully meant it every time. We will all miss him and see him again someday.
God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be. So he wrapped His arms around you and whispered come to me. You didn’t deserve what you went through so he gave you a rest. God’s garden must be beautiful for he only takes the best. I remember you saying I would be here for my birthday in the name of Jesus and he kept you. Your love was genuine and you’ll truly be missed. Rest in heaven. Love you Hans!
Hans there’s no more suffering you are in God’s hands and you truly was a Godsend you was everything a husband should have been, GOD will honor you for all your works you put in down here. You watch over my mother and we love you. From Brother-& law Terry Ellis

I miss you and love you. I hope that you are soaring high and fast and happy with God. You deserve to be happy and pain free.
