Mary Alice Hurst Gardner, 77, of French Settlement, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, after a long struggle with illness. Originally from Liberty, Mississippi, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Hurst Lambert and William Hurst, her stepfather, Preston Lambert, and her brothers, Paul Hurst and Leslie Lambert.  She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gusta Derrel Gardner, her daughters, Melissa Anderson, Christie Dunn, Elizabeth Lincoln, and Mary Gardner, and her grandson, Adam Albarez. A founding member of Oakview Baptist Church, in Livingston, Louisiana, Mary was devoted to her church community.  She taught Sunday school for forty years, which added so much love to her life.  Mary also loved gardening and earned a Master Gardener degree from Louisiana State University and volunteered through the program. She will be missed by family and friends.  There will be a celebration of her life at Oakview Church when we are all able to safely gather again. Arrangements with Church Funeral Services.
