Rhonda, a native of St. Amant, passed away on July 26, 2023 after a two-year battle with cancer, at the age of 58. She was born April 6, 1965 and was a graduate of St. Amant High School, class of 1983. She was kind, generous and loving, and brought joy and laughter to those around her.
She was a long time employee of the Ascension Parish Government. Outside of work she loved the outdoors, especially the beach! Fishing, hunting, and camping with friends and family was where she wanted to be, and Rhonda was always the last one standing! She was always up for an adventure and she enjoyed exploring new places. Aside from the outdoors, she enjoyed being creative. She loved gardening and had quite the green thumb! She liked antiquing, arts and crafts, stained glass, painting, and doing puzzles. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her family and grandchildren, the countless hours by the pool hosting family gatherings in the backyard.
She is preceded in death by her father, Telesmar Moran, Jr. Rhonda is survived by her husband, William Murphy; and their children Jade Dupre (Matthew), Hayden Peabody, Mason Peabody, and Landon Murphy(Shelbi). She is also survived by her mother, Diana Molea Moran; her siblings, Brent Moran (Judy LaPorte), Sherry Avrill (Jeff); her three grandchildren, Kyuss and Coye Dupre, and Kohen Murphy; along with many family members from the Moleas and Morans.
Rhonda Jo will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Catholic Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Friday, August 4, 2023. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until Mass at 11:00 am. The family will welcome guests at Bill and Rhonda’s home following Mass.
