Karen is survived by her husband of more than 46 years, Billy King, her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kate King, and granddaughters, Clara and Amelia. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Reeves, older brothers Larry (Judy) and Ronnie (Linda) Reeves, and younger sisters Kathy Reeves and Donna (Dan) Smith, as well as numerous greatly loved nieces, nephews, and their children.
A public-school teacher for more than 26 years, Karen retired for health reasons. For most of her career, Karen taught Middle School Science and was well respected by colleagues, students, parents, and her community. As the wife of a pastor, Karen made a positive, encouraging impact on each church that she and her husband served. She was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ and her life demonstrated that commitment.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, June 17 at 4:00 p.m. at Beverly Hills Baptist Church, 777 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805. A reception and greeting of friends will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the ALS Society (donate.als.org), or the church or charity of your choice.
So sorry for your loss, Karen was a sweet lady and we know she will truly be missed. Please know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May God give you comfort and peace in the days ahead.
Words cannot express the way I feel. I love this family as my own family.
My love and heart goes out to Dr. King, Michael and family and to the Reeves family, especially to Betty and Donna. You three with Karen were like triplets. Karen is greatly missed! I rejoice knowing I will see her again in heaven!
Love you!
