
Haines J. ” Hank” Acosta, 84, native of Sorrento, LA and resident of French Settlement, LA, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022. Haines proudly served in the US Navy. In his free time, Haines enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, and being outdoors. He loved his family and looked forward to spending time with them as often as possible. He is survived by his wife, Netty Acosta of French Settlement, LA; daughter, Marcy Henderson of French Settlement, LA; son, Scott Acosta of Belfair, WA; brother, Murphy Acosta; grandchildren, Denny Henderson, Darcie Henderson Badeaux, and Deziray Henderson; great grandchildren, Ethan and Evelynn Efferson, Memphis, and Leo Henderson; Marshall and Madilyn Dixon as well as 3 stepsons and numerous other family members. Haines is preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred, and Lillian Villeneuve Acosta; brothers, Wilbert (Verna), Noea (Dee) (Jo Ann), Gilbert (Jeanette) Acosta; sisters, Loritta Acosta, and Loretta Oliver, all native of Sorrento, LA, as well as numerous nephews. A memorial to celebrate Haines’ life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 1pm at the French Settlement Catholic Church Pavilion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Haines’ honor to the American Cancer Society or Dementia Society of America. Arrangements entrusted with Church Funeral Services of St. Amant.
Rest in peace Uncle Haines. You will be missed. Loved when you used to live across the street and go for your daily walks in front of my house and always stopped by to chat. Loved when you and Netty would give me a surprise visit and bring satsumas! Love you!
