Elaine Rita Brookshire Dodson, 80 years old, beloved wife, mother grand mother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and friend was called to be with our Heavenly Father on August 22, 2021. She was born on June 7, 1941 to Edward “Eddie” Brookshire and Susan Melancon Brookshire. She loved her family dearly, she also loved cooking, sewing, traveling and helping others. She never met a stranger and enjoyed making everyone feel special with a kind word. She was MawMaw to many, throughout her many years of cooking and teaching at the daycare. Elaine was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her love for her family knew no bounds and she cherished every minute she spent with them! She leaves behind a legacy of service and compassion, and will be remembered for her laughter and love! She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James L. Dodson; her daughter, Deborah Stuckey and husband Huey, and her son, James “Jimmy” Dodson Jr. and wife Mary; grandchildren: Jason Stuckey and wife Courtney, Tiffany Hussein, Shontelle Stuckey; Great-grandchildren:Allison Stuckey, Brycen Hussein, Averlynn Hussein, Sami Hussein, Ainsley Poche’, Alex Clements, and Austin Clements; Great-great grandchildren: Jasmine, Joy, Charlee, Talon and Alla, a sister; Elizabeth “Liz” Guedry and husband Joseph “ Pat”, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Edward “ Eddie” Brooksire and mother Susan Melancon Brookshire; a sister Gloria Bishop; and a grandson Damen Dodson. There will be a Celebration of Life at her daughter Deborah’s home on Sunday August 29, 2021 from 12-4 pm.
