Peggy was born in Pittsburgh, PA, subsequently moving to Boston, Houston, then Baton Rouge in junior high, as her father traveled with the Navy. At Baton Rouge High School, she would meet Robert Day whom she would marry after their first year of college. After receiving a degree in English Education from LSU, she taught high school English while putting her husband through Law School. She briefly paused her career to raise her small children, reading them Shakespeare and poetry for bedtime stories. Once the kids were in school, she started at the new UHF TV station as Continuity Director, for the production of “Dr. Shock Theater”. UHF TV would become the NBC Affiliate, WVLA-TV, and Peggy would rise to become the first woman salesperson and sales director for Channel 33. During her more than twenty years of “selling air” at WVLA she obtained many honors, including one awarding a car. Embarking on an independent career, Peggy founded New Day Media providing advertising consulting to many clients. As she scaled-down her consulting firm, she embraced a franchise of Sabai Jewelry, a business owned by Peggy’s daughter, Terrie. She successfully ran this Mid-City gallery for fifteen years, helping to start the Mid City Merchants Association, which sponsored community events such as White Light Nights and Mid-City Art Hop. Only a global pandemic was able to spur her retirement from the gallery as she continued to dabble in online sales and place ads for her loyal clients. Peggy spent many years serving in the Girl Scouts, being selected as an Ambassador, earning a trip to Finland representing the Scouts, and meeting with Lady Baden-Powell founder of Girl Guides in England. She also donated her time to WVLA events, such as the Adopt-a-Pet Days, bringing home many strays over the years, now survived by her cats, Mr. Binx and Princess Lillian. Peggy was a creative soul and a strong manager of her home and career, raising four inventive, independent, and productive children in her mold. She is survived by her husband, Robert Day, her children, Teresa “Terrie” Day, David Day (Nicole), Wynne Day Waltman (Charlie), Dr. Elaine “Lainy” Day (Dason); her grandchildren, Cassidy Day, Megan Waltman Perry, Malcolm “Mai” Gooch, Jordan Waltman, Andrew Day, Robert Day and her great-grandchild, Noelle Perry. She is survived by her nieces Elisabeth Olds, Robyn Olds, and Courtney Olds.
I did not know Peggy but she went to high school with my brother and was so kind to me when I was trying to locate her husband to thank him for coming to my brother’s wake. From what I have read Peggy was an intelligent, creative, independent and above all,a kind and very generous and caring person. I know she will be missed by her family and many friends.

Ms Peggy was a wonderful woman. She made me laugh a lot I was knew her for a short time,it only seemed as if I’ve known her all my life. I entered her home and she welcomed me as if it was my home, when she had a meal she made sure I did, it’s so much I. An say about her my time with her was life filling I learned a lot about her and she learned a lot about me in our short time to me it seemed like a life time . Peggy had a lamp on side of her bed she told me to click it three times I didn’t quite hear her are I herd what I thought I herd so instead of clicking I clapped and if you knew Peggy you know how she said I said click. Peggy, you were always a class act and just a nice person. Love you and we will miss you!
Greatful for your sprit, intellect, and neverending optimism! You were one of the first people in this business to take me seriously. I used that confidence to push through multiple obstacles in my career. Thank you!
Peggy was my first boss as I started my career in advertising sales for WVLA. I learned a great deal from her and went on to enjoy a successful career in media sales for 27 years, thanks to all I learned from her as a leader. My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all of her family and friends. May she rest in peace, and may her memory be eternal in our hearts.
Peggy and I worked together for years on the Mid City Merchants big art festivals. Although I was the “chair”, it was really Peggy who did the hard work to successfully advertise these events.
We spent thousands of hours together and became good friends as we had a lot of common interests.
I wanted to call her this week to get her input on advertising for the 2023 White Light Night and am in shock to hear of her passing!
Loved you Peggy as you well knew!

What a great human being, we’ll miss her whit and smile!
I met Peggy by selling art to Sabai jewelers. I look forward to my visits and our conversations. We agreed on our philosophies of life as well as politics. She adored her family and had a great work ethic. Her smile lit up a room. Fly with the angels my friend may you receive Gods blessings as you so richly deserve.
Love you, Peggy. Sure gonna mix you! You were a one of a kind, class act!
Love, Chuck Bush
