Thurman Joseph Tanner, born in Gonzales and resident of St. Amant, passed away at his home on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the age of 87.  Thurman was a Mason with New River Lodge # 402.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and all things outdoors, including fishing and hunting.  Thurman is survived by his wife, Tiny Tanner; son, Byron Tanner; grandchildren, Bambi Tanner Helmke (Derek); Wayne Tanner, Jesse Tanner; Erin Tanner Rousseau (Austin); 4 great grandchildren; his favorite daughter-in-law, Gwena Tanner.  He is preceded in death by his 1^st wife, Dorothy Tanner, sons, John and Arnold Tanner; parents, W.H. and Nettie Tanner.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, afternoon at Sorrento Baptist Church from 5:30 pm until 8:00pm with Masonic services to take place at 7:00pm.  Visitation will resume at Sorrento Baptist Church on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 9:00am until service time at 11:00am.  Burial to follow at New River Baptist Church Cemetery in St. Amant.   Church Funeral Services of St. Amant entrusted with arrangements.
