Michael Jules Ardoin, 83, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away at his home on Saturday, August 27, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was a native of Chataignier, Louisiana. Michael was a graduate of Ville Platte High School and Louisiana State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He proudly served his country in the US Army after college. Through Michael’s career in the insurance industry, he co-founded Sunbelt Special Risks, Inc until his retirement in 2002.
Michael always opened his home to family and friends for special occasions. He especially enjoyed spending time with and spoiling his many nieces and nephews. He was an amazing cook; everyone loved his recipes from his Cajun background. He loved speaking Cajun French and celebrating his heritage. Most of all he loved LSU.
Michael is survived by his lifetime partner Bryan D. Wille; his sister Lorraine Ardoin Boudreaux; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Josien Ardoin and Edna Rozas Ardoin; sister Dr. Rosalie Ardoin; and brother Richard M. Ardoin.
A memorial service will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge on Friday, September 9, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with the rosary at 10:30 a.m. A mass will be held at 11 a.m. Family and friends are also invited to a reception following the service.
We are praying for Uncle Mike! He will be greatly missed, he was always ready with a hug and a smile. He truly enjoyed sitting and visiting with family and we loved him!
I am so sorry to hear this news. Mike has been a good friend of mine for many years. I met him when he worked for AMCO in Baton Rouge and we have been friends ever since. I’ve actually been knowing him since 1981 when I got in the insurance business. I did a lot of business with him when he opened Sunbelt Special Risk. We have kept in touch even after we both retired. My most sincere condolences to his family. He will be missed by me very much.
RIP Mike. You touched many lives in this life.
Goodbye mon cousin. You will be missed.
The word has lost a great man. Heaven has gained an angel. 😢
