
Len Romain Matherne, Jr., native of New Orleans and resident of Gonzales, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the age of 77. Len was a faithful member of St. Anne Catholic Church of Sorrento. He enjoyed time spent with his family and friends, going to the casino and had a passion for cars. Len was the proud owner of Matherne’s Trucking Company LLC. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris D Matherne; daughter, Dawn M Erdal; son, Lenny Matherne; sisters, Nedra Cain and Elaine Nicole (Wayne); grandchildren, Justin Erdal and Catherine Matherne; step children, Carol Moore (Perry), Terral Rushing (Andy), Emma LeBourgeois (Darren), Mary Grahm(Darren “Dut” Nickens), Louis F Lee, Jr. (Elizabeth), Charles J. Lee (Deanna); sister-in-law, Pat Matherne; 12 step grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other special family members. Len is preceded in death by his parents, Len, Sr. and Leona Babin Matherne; first wife, Catherine C. Matherne; sisters, Sylvia and Myrna; brother, Emile Matherne; son-in-law, Alex Erdal. A Memorial Mass to celebrate Len’s life will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church of Sorrento on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 10:30am.
