
A ceremony celebrating the life of Joyce L. Wilson will be held on Thursday at 2 pm at First United Pentecostal Church Denham Springs, visitation will begin at 10 am. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Holly Ridge, LA on May 14, 1933 and passed peacefully from this life on Sunday March 21, 2021 at the age of 87 years surrounded by her family.
She was a resident of Walker, a devoted member of First United Pentecostal Church, and served as principal of Community Christian Academy. She had a passion for education and especially the students whose lives she touched throughout her years. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher.
She is preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Wilson, parents Bill and Gladys Walker Lester, siblings Howard Lester and Alma Alexander.
Survivors include her children Bruce Wilson (Rita), Don Wilson (Lisa), and Laura Harrell (Bobbie), grandchildren Eddie (Brittany), Cherie (Jon), Jennifer (Mike), Keith, Chad (Auburn), Allison (Taylor) also Aubrey, Micah, and Rebekah (Caleb) and their father Wayne Mathis; siblings Mildred Alexander, Faye Sims, Walter Lester, Charles Lester, Carol Crain, Wayne “Coon” Lester, and Billie O’Quinn; also survived by 16 great grandchildren.

Lattie and I loved her lots! She was instrumental in the education of my children. She also made sure that memorization of the Bible was imperative. Her words were one day “they maybe in a hard place . The memory of those scriptures will rise up and give them the strength to get though.”
My children are Comunity Christian Academy Alumni. Awesome memories they have. Many amusing memories can be shared when they get together.
Mrs Wilson always gave us her best ,and never held back anything we may of needed to excel in this life . God Bless the family and friends with such a great loss.
